This Valentine’s season, I’d like to offer my short story, THE PROEM, for free.

It’s a prequel to THE PURSUAL and introduces the main characters in the series and specifically, highlighting when Neith and Invier meet, and the romance that ensues. That introduction is the ball that gets the entire Nome Chronicles series rolling.

The Pursual: A Book Cover

I noted in an earlier post that my Book 1 of the Nome Chronicles – The Pursual – has a cover. It’s lovely, if I may say so myself. The people over at Deranged Doctor Design (DDD) were extremely patient with me as I knew what I wanted but couldn’t always explain it adequately.

That cover was the culmination of me spending months agonizing over what it should look like. Late nights spent poring over covers in my genre – YA SFF – and studying everything I could get my hands on about cover art at Kboards and elsewhere.

So, what does my cover look like? Continue reading “The Pursual: A Book Cover”

Blurb Work: The Pursual

Writing the blurb for The Pursual has been the hardest thing ever. As in…the extra hardest.

I honestly didn’t think it would prove as difficult, even though I’ve read that it’s hard work.

(Yeah, I can be as delusional as the next person *Kanye shrug*) Continue reading “Blurb Work: The Pursual”

When’s the best time of year to publish my book? Pt 1

This is undoubtedly a question most of us Indie Writers ask at some point in the creative process. From my research, there’s no definite answer. Nevertheless, I felt the need to do some searching for AN answer.

Introducing … Landen Sohr

I continue to share little snippets of the characters in my current Series in Progress, The Nome Chronicles Trilogy.

Landen Sohr is a badass soldier who is part of Nome Reffour.  She is the head of security for the family and shadows Titan Reffour wherever he goes.

I envision her as an Asian lady who towers over everyone in height. She’s a blond baldy, with a square jaw and black eyes.

When I dug through the Google machine, I found loads of ladies who came close to my idea of Landen Sohr but none of them actually fit the bill.

Until I found a picture of Micah Gianelli. Continue reading “Introducing … Landen Sohr”

Introducing … Neith

Neith (pronounced NEETH, like Keith) is one of the main characters in my current series in progress, The Nome Chronicles Trilogy. When readers are first introduced to her, she is a seventeen year old girl on the verge of taking an important step that will affect not only herself but several others. She’s a bit naive about certain things, but eventually gets a bit tougher and smarter.

I’ve spent a lot of time with Neith in my head and in my writing. Sometimes, I know what she looks like and at other times, I don’t. I do know that she is a black girl with hazel-grey eyes and curly black hair.

I used to have pictures of what I thought she would look like, but then the computer crashed and … no need to go back to that most painful moment, right?

And so, now, I have to start again. Find images that closely resemble the character I have in my head.

Maybe her?
