The struggle to write that is.
After dealing with a sad family situation, it seems like I’m left with little motivation to be creative. What that means is that I’m unable to focus on writing tasks right now and it’s a bummer.
I have deadlines that I simply can’t meet and I really don’t know how to at this point.
That, plus the fact that the two computers in my house with Microsoft Word on them are both not working. Meaning, I can’t get to reviewing the editing notes I received from the editor on Book 1.
Meh.
I’ve chosen to read instead and have recently completed the following books:
My Girl by Jack Jordan
Carl Sagan’s Hunt for Intelligent Life in the Universe by C. Gockel
Breaking Sky by Cori McCarthy.
Sadly, I’ve found that reading books puts pressure on me to get back to completing my Nome Chronicles series. Still, reading is fundamental for learning craft and I continue to be in need of that. Don’t know if I’ll ever reach a point where I no longer need to learn that aspect of writing.
I’m currently reading the following books:
The Moth & The Flame by Renee Ahdieh
and I plan to finish Rook by Sharon Cameron this weekend.
Next week, I’ll delve into David Gaughran’s Let’s Get Digital book.
It focuses on self-publishing advice and I hope to glean as much as possible.
So, what do you do when your writing muse flees you? How do you motivate yourself?
Also, what are you reading right now? Or plan to read sometime soon?
Till next time!
